In this tenth installment of our Hidden Medicine series, we delve into insights on the spiritual battle for those who have already experienced some measure of freedom. While the previous chapter focused on the enemy’s tactics for keeping people enslaved, this chapter, “The Battle Plan for the Freed Slaves,” explores how spiritual forces continue to target individuals who have begun to break free from bondage.

The Reality of Freedom

Spiritual emancipation doesn’t mean the battle is over—it simply shifts. Once individuals take steps to reclaim their spiritual health and seek healing, they become targets for more sophisticated attacks. This concept aligns with the idea that those who seek to live with purpose and truth often face the greatest resistance.

The chapter frames this struggle as part of a larger cosmic war, where the enemy works to discourage, distract, and weaken those who are walking the path of spiritual growth.

The Enemys Tactics Against the Freed

For those who have begun their journey of healing, the enemy employs new strategies to regain control:

  1. Doubt and Discouragement

    • The enemy plants thoughts like, “You haven’t really changed,” or “You’ll never fully heal.”

    • This tactic seeks to undermine confidence and progress, leading individuals to feel stuck or defeated.

  2. Temptation to Old Patterns

    • Freed individuals often find themselves tempted to return to familiar but destructive habits.

    • Whether it’s addiction, toxic relationships, or unhealthy coping mechanisms, these temptations are designed to pull people back into bondage.

  3. Isolation

    • The enemy works to isolate individuals by breaking down relationships or fostering feelings of loneliness.

    • Isolation makes it easier for spiritual forces to sow fear, despair, and confusion.

  4. Distraction from Purpose

    • After experiencing freedom, individuals are often called to a higher purpose.

    • The enemy uses busyness, material concerns, or worldly pleasures to distract them from fulfilling their spiritual mission.

  5. Subtle Lies

    • Instead of blatant deception, the enemy whispers subtle lies that can be harder to recognize, such as, “You’re doing enough; no need to push further.”

    • These lies encourage complacency and prevent further growth.

Equipping the Freed for the Battle

While the enemy’s tactics are sophisticated, individuals can resist and continue growing by employing spiritual tools and strategies.

  1. Stay Rooted in Truth

    • Regular prayer, scripture reading, and meditation on spiritual truths help counteract doubt and lies.

    • Reminding oneself of personal progress and victories reinforces confidence.

  2. Guard Against Complacency

    • Freedom is not the end goal—it’s the beginning of a new journey.

    • Continual self-reflection and a commitment to growth are essential to staying spiritually strong.

  3. Build Community

    • Surround yourself with others who share your spiritual goals.

    • A supportive community can provide encouragement, accountability, and wisdom when challenges arise.

  4. Identify and Resist Triggers

    • Be aware of the habits, environments, or relationships that tempt you to revert to old patterns.

    • Create boundaries to protect yourself from these influences.

  5. Focus on Your Purpose

    • Discover and pursue the higher purpose that comes with spiritual freedom.

    • By focusing on helping others and fulfilling your mission, you can stay aligned with positive growth.

Hope for the Journey

The challenges faced after gaining freedom remain but are not insurmountable. In fact, they are opportunities for further growth and deeper reliance on spiritual strength. By understanding the enemy’s tactics and equipping themselves with the right tools, individuals can maintain their freedom and thrive.

Takeaway

Freedom is not a destination—it’s a daily commitment. By staying vigilant, rooted in truth, and connected to a supportive community, we can resist the enemy’s attempts to pull us back into bondage and continue our journey toward lasting peace and healing.

Reflection

Are there areas in your life where you’ve experienced progress but still face resistance or setbacks? How can you use spiritual tools to stay strong and continue moving forward?
